JBU Names Outstanding Athletes

Siloam Springs, Ark. (April 16, 2004) — Kendra McCormick, a sophomore post player on the women’s basketball team was chosen as the Outstanding Female Athlete. McCormick led the Golden Eagle women’s basketball team to a first ever NAIA National Tournament appearance and to the highest ever finish in the SAC by a JBU women’s basketball team. McCormick led the team in scoring with 14.5 points per game and was the second leading rebounder with 5.1 boards per game. She earned first team SAC honors and was a Second Team NAIA All-American. Bethany Sites, a senior from Gentry, Arkansas and Brandon Cole, a sophomore from Hector, Arkansas were named as recipients of the female and male Champions of Character Award. Kendra McCormick earned the MVP award for the women’s basketball team as announced by Coach Jeff Soderquist. Nancy Pierre was voted the Most Improved and Ashley Wettengel was named as the Extra Effort Award winner.
