JBU Students Conduct Market Research in Mexico

Siloam Springs, Ark. - Last month, eight business students from John Brown University gained hands-on business experience in Mexico City.

The students traveled to Mexico to gather research data on Mexico City consumers and their attitudes regarding oral care products. Mr. Gene King, assistant professor of international business, led the student trip. The research was part of a course on international marketing research for business majors.

The international business majors observed shopper’s behavior and conducted surveys and interviews for three days at various retail locations around the city, visiting several cultural sites along the way.

“It was a great opportunity for the students to get first-hand experience at doing international marketing research,” King said. “It gives them something that they would not be able to get from a textbook.”

This is the third trip that JBU international marketing research students have taken to Mexico. The business division plans to conduct one research trip each semester.
