Wyoming Soccer Player Inks with JBU

Siloam Springs, Ark. (April 28, 2004) — Joel Storie, a midfielder from Gillette, Wyoming has signed to play soccer for John Brown University. Storie is a 2003 graduate of Campbell County High School and has been a Rotary Youth exchange student in Brazil at Albert Einstein Liceu High School this past school year.

For his high school athletic achievements, Storie was voted the Wyoming Gatorade Player of the Year for 2002, was a first team All-State selection, the captain of his team and as a senior was voted the MVP for his high school team. Storie also played club soccer for the Gillette Edge Soccer Club and was a member of the Region IV Olympic Development team.

While in Brazil, Storie played club soccer for COC in the Fall of 2003 and for Nativos in the Spring of 2004. Clube de Campo in Piracicaba, Brazil sponsors both teams.

“Joel is a dedicated player who has succeeded in both high school and club soccer. His selection as Wyoming’s Player of the Year and to the Region ODP is a testament to his abilities,” said JBU coach Bob Gustavson. “He will give us a strong offensive force in the middle of the field. I am not sure whether to play him at forward or midfield but he certainly will be a player to watch wherever he plays. Joel is also an outstanding student and should do well in the classroom.”

While at JBU, Storie plans to major in either Business Administration or Graphic Design. He is the son of Steven and Judy Storie of Gillette, Wyoming.
