Siloam Springs, Ark. (June 3, 2004) - Over 600 college and university administrators, faculty and staff will descend upon campus for the Association for Christians in Student Development (ACSD) annual conference at John Brown University, June 7-10. Wheaton, Biola, Taylor, Seattle Pacific, Baylor, and Calvin are just a few of the universities that will be participating in this year’s conference at JBU. The event kicks off with six pre-conference workshops hosted by JBU’s Center for Marriage and Family Studies and Soderquist Center for Leadership and Ethics. The workshops will cover issues surrounding the personal development of students and leadership development. The conference officially opens with featured speaker, Ravi Zacharias, world-renowned speaker and lecturer, and musical artist, Michael Card. Zacharias will be speaking on “Strength for the Journey.” Throughout the week, conference participants will meet in professional gatherings and attend workshops related to the profession of student development in higher education. Topics range from health services to counseling to Christians serving at non-religious institutions. Other speakers that will be featured throughout the week are John Dalton, associate professor in educational leadership and director of the Center for the Study of Values in College Student Development; Dr. Robbie Castleman, assistant professor of biblical studies and theology at John Brown University and national coordinator for InterVarsity’s Religion & Theological Studies Fellowships; Dr. Stuart Lord, dean of Tucker Foundation and associate provost of Dartmouth College.
