Wal-Mart: low end of June forecast
(June 22, 2004) — (Bentonville-AP) -- Wal-Mart says June sales at stores open at least a year are tracking at the low end of its previous estimates, raising the possibility that it could fall short of its monthly forecast. The company says same stores sales for June were at the low end of the four to six percent range. Wal-Mart reported that the strongest sales categories for the United States were food, hardware, paper goods, pet supplies and toys. The company also reported that the Southeast and West were the strongest regions for the week, which included sales through last Friday. Wal-Mart shares closed down 69 cents at 54-dollars, 93-cents on the New York Stock Exchange yesterday.
