Meth hearing held in Bentonville

(June 29, 2004) — (Bentonville-AP) -- Arkansas Representative John Boozman joined Indiana Representative Mark Souder at a hearing in Bentonville yesterday where they asked for a uniform and coordinated system to fight methamphetamine. The congressmen said a consistent and nationwide system is necessary to fight illegal methamphetamine makers and distributors, whether they're home-grown or part of bigger operations. Boozman said a lack of complete reporting of methamphetamine activities in Arkansas had helped keep the state from getting additional federal aid to deal with the problem. Boozman and other Arkansans in Congress, as well as the state's law-enforcement authorities, have sought unsuccessfully for several years to have the state designated a "high intensity drug-trafficking area," making more money available to the state.
