Golden Eagle Women Win in Double Overtime
Siloam Springs, Ark. (September 11, 2004) — Siloam Springs, AR. The Golden Eagle Women’s Soccer team walked away with a 2-1 double overtime win Saturday afternoon against Texas Wesleyan. The Rams got off to a quick start when Nicole Richardson scored a goal when the ball was deflected off a JBU defender 30 seconds into the game. Freshman Ondell Williams tied it up for the Golden Eagles at the 37 minute mark in the first half. No goals were scored in the second half, sending the game to overtime. In the second overtime, Sophomore Amber Aparico kicked an unassisted goal to win the game for JBU.
Coach Joe Thoma had this to say after the game: “I was very proud of the girls in this game. After last game, we talked about stepping up our level of play in practice, and that showed on the field today. We had a more complete game, dominated statistically, and found a way to win.”
The Golden Eagles are now 5-0-1 on the season. They will be on the road this week against Bacone College. The next home game for the JBU women is Tuesday, September 21 against William Woods University.
