JBU Swimmers Take On Austin College

Siloam Springs, Ark. (October 9, 2004) — The JBU swim teams took on Austin College in Sherman, Texas on Saturday, October 9. The women outscored Austin 103-99. Austin got the win on the men’s side with a score of 57-174.

The women had two relays and one individual swim qualify for the national meet. The women’s 200 medley relay, consisting of sophomore Canda Cottrill and freshmen Gabby McCully, Laura Ravenscroft, and Linda Wyman, swam a 2:06.18 to qualify for nationals. Juniors Jenny Brown and Kathleen Kubricht, sophomore Mariah Rose, and freshman Ashley Kenline swam a 1:48.48 200 Free relay to qualify for nationals. Kubricht also swam a 1:02.02 100 Fly to qualify for nationals.

Highlighting the men’s meet was a second place finish by senior Josh Hughes in the 100 Fly with a time of 58.61. Freshman Richard Bartels placed second in the 50 Free with a time of 24.57.

JBU’s swimming and diving team will host the first home meet on Saturday, October 16th at 10:00 a.m. against McMurry University.
