Golden Eagle's Soccer Gets Win In Final Home Game

Siloam Springs, Ark. (October 26, 2004) — Senior goalkeeper Pablo Fernandez led the JBU men’s soccer team to a win in their final home game of the season, beating Oklahoma Baptist 3-1. OBU scored with 3:29 left on the clock in the first half but the Golden Eagles were determined to score before half time. With 20 seconds left Freshman Oscar Amaya scored the tying goal and was assisted by Wesley Chase. Coming into the second half strong, John Brown proceeded to score two more goals. Eight minutes in junior Kyle Carter scored off an assist by junior Seth Hildebrant. Scoring the final goal with 28:55 left in the game sophmore Joe Hirleman scored with an unassisted goal. Goalkeeper Pablo Fernandez had seven saves in this game.

The Eagles finish the regular season with an 11-3-2 record and a 3-2-1 conference record. The men will begin the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament this weekend.
