JBU Lady's Drop Second Straight
SHAWNEE, OK (January 24, 2005) — The Golden Eagles lost their second consecutive conference game, in a 56-44 decision in favor of the hosting Oklahoma Baptist University Bison. The loss drops the Golden Eagles to 10-8 overall and 2-5 in conference play.
The Golden Eagles struggled in the first half shooting just 37% from the field. The Bison shot 52% in the first half to take a 28-21 lead to the half.
The Golden Eagles were able to cut the lead to 33-30 with 12:28 to go, but never got closer. The Bison ended the game on a 23-14 run to seal the 12-point victory. The Golden Eagles shot just 29% in the second half.
“They really shot free throws well and used that to open up the lead in the last few minutes,” said coach Jeff Soderquist.
No Golden Eagle player scored in double figures, Ashley Wettengel and Caitlin Chandler led JBU with 9 points each. Point guard Alicia Baer had 8 points and leading scorer Kendra McCormick had 7.
Tabetha Eaton paced the Bison with 15 points, Shannon Plumb had 11 and Kelli Wellborn had 10 points off the bench.
The Golden Eagles next play at St. Gregory’s University Thursday night at 6 p.m.
