JBU Women Make 15 Treys to Beat #2 Oklahoma Christian
Siloam Springs, Ark. (February 10, 2005) — Center Kendra McCormick made five threes to help spark the John Brown University women’s basketball team (13-10, 5-7 SAC) to a 77-58 win over the #2 SAC ranked Oklahoma Christian Eagles.
The Golden Eagles climbed to a 17 point lead with 6:10 left in the first half. Oklahoma Christian used their full court press to help force turnovers and climb within nine to go into the locker rooms with a 37-28 JBU advantage. Nine points was the closest the Eagles got to JBU in the second half, as the Golden Eagles took control, making nine of their fifteen threes in the second half and giving them the 77-58 victory.
Leading scorer for JBU was Kendra McCormick with 22, 15 of her points coming from three-pointers. Ashley Wettengel had a double-double for the night with 20 points and 10 rebounds. JBU shot 49% from the field and 60% from behind the arc. Katie Fariss was the leading scorer for Oklahoma Christian with 18.
The women travel to Southern Nazarene University Saturday to take on the Crimson Storm at 6:00. They are back home for a three game home stretch next Thursday to face Oklahoma City.
