Men Lose By Two to Oklahoma Christian
Siloam Springs, Ark. (February 10, 2005) — The John Brown University men’s basketball team (14-9, 5-7 SAC) came close to beating the SAC #1 ranked Oklahoma Christian Eagles Thursday night in Siloam Springs.
The first half saw seven ties and three lead changes, with JBU taking a 33-31 lead into halftime. Senior Pat Smits had three treys in the first 3:00 minutes of the second half to JBU pull to an eight point lead. Oklahoma Christian came back to take the lead at the 10:00 minute mark. Turnovers by JBU gave the Eagles some easy baskets and the seven point lead with 3:37 on the clock. The Golden Eagles fought back and tied the game on a three by Adam Workman with :16 on the clock. But two free throws by Oklahoma Christian’s Brady Page gave the Eagles the 69-67 win.
Leading scorer for JBU was Brandon Cole with 17. Reyjavick De Gracia and Adam Workman both had 12 for the night. De Gracia had 10 rebounds for a double-double.
JBU is on the road Saturday facing Southern Nazarene at 8:00 p.m. They will be back home next Thursday to face Oklahoma City.
