Siloam Springs, Ark. (September 7, 2005) - The John Brown Golden Eagles improved to 2-1 on the season Wednesday by beating Missouri Valley College 4-1 in Siloam Springs. Missouri Valley (0-1-1) drew first blood when Brias Barros scored for the Vikings in the 19th minute, but Aaron Shaffer responded for John Brown five minutes later with an unassisted goal. In the 32nd minute, Garrett Horton scored for the Golden Eagles, assisted by Kyle Carter, to make the score 2-1. Andrew Bradford widened the gap to 3-1 with a goal in the 37th minute off an assist by Shaffer, and Joel Storie scored with an assist from Horton to set the final margin in the 44th minute. The second half saw both teams trade control of the ball and attempt several good shots that all missed. Glen Goodner made eight saves for John Brown. Freshman goalkeeper Spencer Watson entered the game late and made two key saves.
John Brown travels to Seward, Neb., this weekend to play Concordia at 1:00 on Saturday.
