JBU 2-0 in Fall Classic

Siloam Springs, Ark. (September 17, 2005) — The John Brown Golden Eagles won both of their games during the 23rd Annual JBU Fall Classic this weekend. On Friday, John Brown defeated Trinity International (Ill.) 3-2. Aaron Shaffer scored in the 6th minute on an assist from Andrew Bradford and Rodrigo Juliao to give the Golden Eagles an early lead. TIU equalized the score in the 38th minute on a goal by Nate Bogdanovich. In the second half, Kyle Carter and Lee Dewey scored in the 73rd and 81st minutes, respectively. Juliao picked up his second assist of the game on Carter’s goal. TIU scored again in the 88th minute, but ran out of time before they could tie or take the lead. Goalkeeper Glen Goodner made 10 saves for John Brown.

In Saturday’s game, John Brown defeated Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) 4-1. All of the scoring took place in the second half. Garrett Horton scored unassisted in the 47th minute, but was matched just four minutes later by DWU’s Jimmy Gutierrez. Daniel Fleming answered quickly, scoring in the 52nd minute on an assist by Kyle Carter. Then Fleming scored again in the 60th minute on an Andrew Bradford assist to give John Brown a 3-1 lead. Phillip Davis finished the scoring in the 78th minute with an unassisted goal. Goodner finished the game with six saves.

In other action, Oklahoma City defeated Dakota Wesleyan 4-1 on Friday and Trinity International 4-0 on Saturday.
