John Brown Defeats Science & Arts

Siloam Springs, Ark. (October 11, 2005) — Nikki Ganter scored three goals in the first half to help the John Brown Golden Eagles defeat Science & Arts (Okla.) 5-2 Tuesday and improve to 3-0 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. The Drovers struck first in the 16th minute with a score on a free kick, but John Brown’s Sharon Burley tied the game four minutes later. Ganter then scored three goals in a twenty-four-minute span to give the Golden Eagles a 4-1 halftime lead. Amber Aparicio assisted Ganter twice, once with a 50-yard diagonal pass from midfield. John Brown’s Asja DeJong scored a header off a corner kick by Ganter in the 68th minute to stretch the lead to 5-1. USAO (7-5-1, 1-2) then closed the scoring with a rebound goal in the 75th minute. John Brown goalkeepers Natalie Wall and Megan Rouse each made 3 saves, and the Golden Eagles out-shot the Drovers 15-7.

John Brown (7-4-1, 3-0) will host conference foe Oklahoma City on Thursday at 1:00.
