Vogts Signs with JBU

Siloam Springs, Ark. (November 17, 2005) — Newton (Kan.)High School senior basketball player Amber Vogts signed a letter of intent Monday to play basketball at John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Ark., beginning with the 2005-06 school year. Vogts, a 6-1 forward, is a three-year letter winner for Newton and has started since her sophomore season. Vogts was a second-team All-Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail League selection as a junior. She helped lead Newton to a Class 5A state berth as a sophomore. John Brown University is an NAIA Division I school. The Golden Eagles are 2-1 this season and ranked 19th in the NAIA Division I pre-season poll. John Brown was 14-16 last season, 6-12 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. The Golden Eagles competed in the NAIA Division I National Tournament in 2004. Vogts also was a member of the Railer tennis team, winning the Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail League Division II second singles title the past two years.
