Cole Named National Player of the Week

Siloam Springs, Ark. (January 18, 2006) — The NAIA has named John Brown’s Brandon Cole its Division I Player of the Week for the week ending January 15, 2006. The announcement came Wednesday, two days after Cole was named the Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Week.

Cole, a 6’1” senior guard from Hector, Ark., became John Brown’s all-time leading scorer last Thursday night in a 91-70 victory over then-17th-ranked Wayland Baptist (Texas). On Saturday, Cole tied the school record for three-pointers in a game with 9 while scoring 36 points against Lubbock Christian. He averaged 26.5 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists in the two crucial road victories. His current streak of 119 games with a three-point basket is the longest in college basketball history and he has scored exactly 2,100 points in his career.
