JBU Women Named to All-SAC Lists

Siloam Springs, Ark. (March 1, 2006) — Five John Brown Golden Eagles received recognition when the Sooner Athletic Conference released its All-Conference selections on Tuesday. Kendra McCormick was named to the All-Conference First Team. Lesli Fanning received Third Team honors; and junior Ashley Wettengel was named to the Honorable Mention list. Nancy Pierre received an SAC Sportsmanship Award, and Wettengel and Brooke Warder both qualified for the Academic All-Conference list.

McCormick, a 6-1 senior post from Siloam Springs, averaged 15.9 points and 5.13 rebounds per game during the regular season. She is JBU’s career scoring leader with 1,755 points.

Fanning, a 5-5 senior guard from Tulsa, averaged 9.67 points and made 80-of-195 3-point attempts (41.0%) throughout the regular season. She ranks 10th nationally in 3-pointers made, averaging 2.67 per game, and 11th nationally in 3-point percentage. She is JBU’s career and season 3-point shooting leader with 289 treys in four years and 80 just this season.

Wettengel, a 5-10 junior forward from Bentonville, Ark., averaged 8.47 points and 4.67 rebounds per game this season and led the team in assists with 95.

Pierre is a 5-8 junior forward from Panama City, Panama, and Warder is a 5-6 senior guard from Siloam Springs.
