JBU Soccer Signs Two from Antigua
Siloam Springs, Ark. (March 9, 2006) — The John Brown Golden Eagles recently signed two men from St. John’s, Antigua, to the men’s soccer team. Theo Browne is transferring from Yavapai Junior College in Prescott, Ariz. The 6-1 midfielder/forward is a former High School Player of the Year in Antigua, where he also played for the under-17 national team. Akeem Grant, a 5-6 midfielder, is transferring from Iowa Wesleyan, where he was an all-Midwest Classic Conference performer in 2005. Browne and Grant played together in Antigua and were also teammates of current Golden Eagle Terry Andrew.
“We’re very excited to have these former teammates with us,” head coach Bob Gustavson said. “Theo is an excellent striker who we hope will be able to score some goals for us. Akeem, as a midfielder, is more of a field general.”
Antigua is the largest island in the tiny Caribbean nation of Antigua & Barbuda. It is located east-southeast of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
