JBU’s Warder, Wettengel Named NAIA Scholar Athletes
Siloam Springs, Ark. (March 28, 2006) — John Brown athletes Brooke Warder and Ashley Wettengel were recently named Daktronics-NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball All-American Scholar Athletes for the 2005-06 season.
Warder, a 5-6 senior guard from Siloam Springs, Ark., is majoring in accounting. This is her second season to earn the award. Wettengel, a 5-10 junior forward from Bentonville, Ark., is a business administration major. She is a member of John Brown’s chapter of Alpha Chi, National Honors Scholarship Society. This is her first season to earn the award. To be eligible, a player must be a junior or a senior.
Head coach Jeff Soderquist said, “These awards are complements to both Brooke and Ashley for how they take care of things off the court as well as on it. These recognitions are especially meaningful at a school like JBU, where the academics are hard.”
John Brown women’s basketball players have received All-American Scholar Athlete awards in seven of the past eight seasons.
