JBU Finishes Second at Regional Championships
Siloam Springs, Ark (December 2, 1999) — The John Brown University Lady Golden Eagles Volleyball team finished second at the Regional Championships on November 18-20 in Lubbock, TX.
The Lady Golden Eagles won their first two matches against number six seed, University of Texas at Permian Basin (18-16, 15-8, 15-6) and number two seed Texas Lutheran (13-15, 15-8, 15-7, 3-15, 17-15). The decisive match came in the third round against number one seed and thirteenth nationally ranked team, Lubbock Christian University, in three matches, 7-15, 6-15, 7-15.
Regional honors were awarded to sophomore Amber Squires who received First Team All Region VI and Region VI All Tournament Team; Tina Simoni who received Second Team All Region VI and Region VI All Tournament Team; and Melody Murray who received Second Team All Region VI.
