MEN’S SOCCER FIGHT THEIR WAY TO A TIE
Siloam Springs, Ark. (September 20, 2006) — In a game where NCAA Division II opponent Missouri Southern was up at the half 1-0, John Brown was able to fight their way back into the game and hang on for a 1-1 tie on Wednesday night in Joplin, Mo.
Missouri Southern saw its first and only goal in the 15th minute of the match when freshman midfielder Lucas Merino was able to get past several defenders and score unassisted.
In the second half, John Brown settled down and was able to get the equalizer in the 53rd minute when senior Justin Cowell crossed the ball to Jerry Carcamo who found an open Mikey Roberts who one touched it in for the goal.
The remainder of the match was a defensive battle which saw John Brown attempt 21 shots and Missouri Southern 19. Junior goalkeeper Glen Goodner recorded eight saves for John Brown.
