Women Fall at Home
Siloam Springs, Ark. (November 17, 2006) — A late second half surge wasn’t enough to overcome a 14 point halftime deficit, as John Brown women’s basketball fell 71-58 to College of the Ozarks on Friday night. C of O saw four players reach double figures, with Josie Sparkman leading the way with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Janessa Demuth and Kayli Combs followed close behind with 16 each on almost identical shooting percentages. They each went 4-10 for the game including 4-9 from downtown and 4-5 from the charity stripe. Nancy Pierre led the way for John Brown with 15.
John Brown (1-5) cut the C of O lead down to 11 at one point in the second half, but turnovers and missed shots would put the game out of their reach. They committed 23 turnovers to 19 from C of O, and shot only 35% (17-49) from the floor to 42% (22-53) from C of O.
On Saturday, John Brown faces Park (Mo.), who defeated Lyon (Ark.) earlier in the night 53-52, at 3:00 p.m. College of the Ozarks (6-0) will face Lyon at 1:00.
