Siloam Springs, Ark. (February 27, 2007) — Desert Christian High School (Ariz.) standout, Ross Collins, has signed a national letter of intent to play soccer for John Brown University for the 2007 soccer season.

Collins, a 6-0 midfielder from Tucson, Ariz., has been a four year starter for Desert Christian. In 2006 he received the Team Coaches Award, and was also selected to be a member of the Phoenix Country Day All-Tournament Team. During his sophomore and junior years, Collins was selected 2nd Team All-Region while helping his team earn consecutive regional titles.

Collins has also received various honors and participated in other activities throughout his high school career including National Honor Society Vice President, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Who’s Who among American High School Students.

Bob Gustavson, JBU head men’s soccer coach, is looking forward to what Collins can bring to the table. “I’m very excited that Ross has decided to attend JBU and be a part of our team,” exclaimed Gustavson. “He has excelled in the classroom and on the soccer field, and I am confident he will continue to do well in our program.”
