Women's Basketball Inks Bergman Standout
Siloam Springs, Ark. (April 13, 2007) — Ashley Taylor, a 6-0 forward from Bergman High School (Ark.), has signed a national letter of intent to play women’s basketball for John Brown University next fall.
Taylor averaged 21 points and 11 rebounds throughout her four-year varsity career at Bergman. During that time, she helped her team make it to the regional semifinals her freshman year, a state runner-up finish her sophomore year, and during her final two seasons, Bergman has made consecutive trips to the state semi-finals.
As a player at Bergman, Taylor was accustomed to playing multiple positions on the floor. John Brown Head Coach Jeff Soderquist thinks this will be the same for Taylor in college.
“I know that she played a lot inside in high school,” said Soderquist. “But we feel that she can run the floor and face the basket. We really hope to play her at the 3, 4, or 5 spot.”
Taylor, who plans to major in sports medicine, is the third recruit signed this spring.
