Men's Basketball Signs Dardanelle Sharp-Shooter

Siloam Springs, Ark. (April 30, 2007) — Matt Haney, a 6-1 guard from Dardanelle High School (Ark.), has signed a national letter of intent to play college basketball for John Brown University during the 2007-08 basketball season.

While at Dardanelle, Haney accumulated over 1200 career points. As a senior, he averaged 19 points, nearly six rebounds, three assists and three steals per game while leading his team to the Class 4A state semi-finals and an overall record of 32-3.

With the loss of leading scorer, senior Adam Workman, head coach Clark Sheehy is hoping Haney can come in and help fill the gap left in the offense.

“Haney is a good shooter and scorer, and can play both the one and two-guard positions,” said Sheehy. “He will bring added depth to our offense and we will look for him to help us early on.”

Haney is the second player to sign with the Golden Eagles this semester. Ryland Allen from Everman High School (Texas) signed with John Brown in February.
