Siloam Springs, Ark. (September 26, 2007) - John Brown women’s soccer looked impressive in their second conference win of the season defeating Northwestern Oklahoma State 3-0 at home on Wednesday. As a team, JBU had 26 shots on goal to only five shots on goal from Northwestern Okla. The Lady Rangers entered today’s match on top of the Sooner Athletic Conference standings at 2-0. But JBU didn’t let that faze them as they controlled possession of the ball nearly the entire match. Although JBU would have 22 shot attempts in the first half, both teams would remain scoreless at halftime. It would only be a matter of time before JBU would see the back of the net. In the 53rd minute, that time would come after senior Jaclyn Raymond would find freshman forward Camille Malkiewicz standing about 25 yards out. Malkiewicz would blast a shot that would glide through the hands of NWOSU’s diving keeper Kelsey Archer. Three minutes later in the 56th minute, freshman Sarah Kidd would add to her point total after arching a shot over the head of Archer to give JBU the 2-0 lead. Junior forward Rachel Gerdin would add a finishing touch in the 86th minute after dribbling past several defenders and striking a left-footed shot past the keeper for JBU’s third goal of the day. With the win John Brown moves to 6-3 overall and sits on top of the conference standings along with Oklahoma City at 2-0. JBU looks to improve on their record when they travel to Wayland Baptist (Texas) for a 3 p.m. matchup on Friday.
