Women’s Soccer Continues Winning Streak

Siloam Springs, Ark. (October 6, 2007) — John Brown women’s soccer picked up their sixth straight win on Saturday afternoon after defeating visiting Oklahoma Christian 4-0. The first half was a defensive battle as both teams held the other scoreless for the half. However, JBU quickly came to life in the second half when Sarah Kidd received the cross pass from Rachel Gerdin in the 48th minute and notched JBU’s first goal of the day. Then in the 62nd minute, freshman Brittany Allen scored unassisted after dribbling by several defenders before making her way into the box and blasting a shot past the keeper for the 2-0 lead. In the 72nd minute, Gerdin made things happen again when she took a cross pass from Robyn Cluka for her first goal of the match. Cluka put the finishing touches on the match after she headed in the corner kick from Stacie Burley to give JBU the 4-0 win. John Brown (8-3, 4-0) limited OCU to only eight shots (four on goal) for the entire match. Senior Natalie Wall also recorded four saves on the day. John Brown returns to the field at home on Wednesday against St. Gregory’s (Okla.) at 1:00 p.m.
