Siloam Springs, Ark. (November 5, 2007) - In their second game of the season, the John Brown men’s basketball team took care of Lyon (Ark.) defeating them 65-52 at home in front of a boisterous Murray Sells Crowd. Senior big man Joel Tesis paced the team with 21 points.
Andrius Mikutis also came up big for the Golden Eagles, matching his previous game high with 17 points while shooting an impressive 6-9 from the floor including 3-5 from three-point range.
JBU only led by five at the half, 28-23 but extended their lead to 39-23 after opening up the second half on an 11-0 run. The Scots managed to cut it down to six at the 9:05 mark after Trey Salley knocked down a three to make it 46-40. However, the Golden Eagles would go on another run and push the lead back up to ten with under three minutes remaining.
Lyon sent JBU to the line down the stretch. But JBU converted from the charity stripe nailing 22-27 (81.5%) free-throws for the game.
John Brown also attacked the glass out rebounding Lyon 30-28. Junior Jarrett McGriff led in this category gathering six for the game. McGriff also reached double digits in scoring with 10 points.
John Brown (2-0) returns to action on Thursday when they travel to Muskogee, Okla. to face Bacone at 7 p.m.
