JBU's Kentish Heading International
Siloam Springs, Ark. (January 25, 2008) — John Brown University men’s soccer player Kieran Kentish has been named a member of the 2008 Anguillan National Soccer Team, which will compete in the 2010 FIFA World Cup Qualifier against El Salvador next month. The announcement came as no surprise to Kentish, who spoke with team officials during his return home over the Christmas break.
“I met with a member of the federation over the break and we discussed the possibilities of me playing,” said Kentish. “It’s just a great honor because not everyday you get to represent your country.”
JBU head men’s soccer coach Bob Gustavson added that this is a great opportunity for Kieran and knows he will do a good job not only representing his country but also JBU.
“Kieran’s been a great player and student for JBU,” said Gustavson. “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for him and I know he will do his very best.”
The 5-7 Kentish, who is a sophomore construction management major at John Brown University, plans to vie for the midfielder position on the 22 member Anguillan squad.
