Lubbock, Texas (February 9, 2008) - John Brown women’s basketball completed their three-game road trip on Saturday with a 59-47 loss to No. 17 Lubbock Christian (Texas). The loss drops JBU to 7-16 overall, 2-13 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
After falling behind 27-15 at the interlude, JBU couldn’t cut into the Lady Chaps’ lead in the second half. JBU, did however, manage to match LCU’s second half scoring with both teams putting up 32 points.
Freshman forward Ashley Taylor led JBU with 10 points and four rebounds. Junior guard Claire Harrison added nine points after draining three treys. Bailey St. Clair totaled 14 points and five boards, for LCU (19-5, 12-4). For the game, JBU hit 36% (18-50) from the floor including 40% (6-15) from three-point land. As a team, JBU also had 33 rebounds, while committing 24 turnovers.
LCU, however, knocked down 46% (18-39) of their shots, grabbed 26 rebounds, and committed 18 turnovers. Up next, JBU returns home to take on No. 14 Southern Nazarene (Okla.) on Thursday, Feb. 14 at 6 p.m.
