NWA Healthy Marriages Hosts Seminar
Siloam Springs, Ark. (April 8, 2008) — NWA Healthy Marriages, a community service of the Center for Relationship Enrichment (CRE), will offer the “I Choose Us: Growing a Passionate Marriage” seminar Friday, April 18, 7-10 p.m. and Saturday, April 19, 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. The event will be held at John Q. Hammons Convention Center at the Embassy Suites, 3303 Pinnacle Hills Parkway, in Rogers. The workshop is free, but reservations are required. The two-day seminar will help equip married couples with eight hours of marriage enrichment education. Couples will leave this event with a personal couples’ assessment report and a discussion guide for ongoing couple interaction. “We are pleased that we can provide another opportunity for couples in Northwest Arkansas to experience this life-changing seminar.” said Greg Smalley, director of Marriage Ministries for the Center for Relationship Enrichment. “It takes everyone working together to make a difference in the quality of marriages in our state. With Northwest Arkansas having the highest divorce rate in the state and Arkansas as a whole having one of the highest divorce rate in the country, it’s about time that we change that tragic statistic and see Northwest Arkansas become known as a place where healthy marriages thrive.” CRE recently finished the first year of a five-year, $2.7 million federal grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Administration for Children and Families, to support research and development of healthy marriages in Northwest Arkansas. The grant covers the cost of the seminar, which would otherwise cost more than $200 per couple. Couples can register for the event online at www.nwamarriages.com, or by calling 479-524-7444. Over 100 couples are already registered for this event, but some additional space is still available.
