Siloam Springs, Ark. (September 18, 2008) - Both the men and women’s soccer teams picked up easy wins on Wednesday night as they cruised to victory over the Bacone Warriors (Okla.). The men won 8-1 while the women earned the 2-0 shutout.
Seven individual players found the back of the net for the men led by sophomore forward Adrian Jasso’s two-goal effort.
As a team, JBU (3-2) outshot the Warriors 26-4 with keeper Spencer Watson picking up a save.
In women’s action, sophomore forward Robyn Cluka and junior midfielder Mikey Brannan earned the points for the ladies on unassisted goals late in the match to give the Lady Golden Eagles (3-3) the win.
“They [Bacone] pretty much just hung back and played defense the entire match. They wouldn’t come out and play us,” said women’s head coach Joe Thoma. “That made it difficult to score, but we finally got one to go in the seventy fifth minute and then again in the eighty sixth.” Up next, both teams return home to take on Harris Stowe (Mo.) on Saturday. The women kickoff at 1 p.m. and the men at 3 p.m.
