Soccer Teams Earn Wins in Conference Openers

Siloam Springs, Ark. (September 29, 2008) — Both the John Brown University men’s and women’s soccer teams picked up conference victories on Saturday afternoon after defeating St. Gregory’s (Okla.). The women blanked the Lady Cavs 6-0 while the men won 2-1.

In women’s action, four players earned goals with sophomore Camille Malkiewicz leading the way with two. Jodi Knack, Mikey Brannan, and Abby Leonard also scored a goal each with the sixth goal coming at the expense of St. Gregory’s off of an own goal. The win moves the ladies to 5-3 overall and 1-0 in SAC play.

In men’s action, sophomores Gabriel Duarte and Adrian Jasso each scored a goal, with sophomores Caleb Theimer and Jamal Bandeh picking up assists to help the Golden Eagles earn the conference win. Overall the men are 5-2 and 1-0 in the SAC.

Both teams return to the field at home on Wednesday against SAC opponent Science and Arts of Okla. The women play at 1 p.m. and the men at 3 p.m.
