Netters Stay Undefeated at Home
Siloam Springs, Ark. (October 29, 2008) — The John Brown University women’s volleyball team came away with a huge non-conference win on Tuesday night after defeating College of the Ozarks (Mo.) 3-2 (23-25, 25-19, 20-25, 27-25, 15-11) in Murray Sells. The win moves JBU to 17-8 on the year.
Several Lady Golden Eagles had double digits in the kill column led by sophomore Amber Wilson and senior Laurae Marty with 15 each. Freshman Kassie Keeter picked up 13 and junior Christi Newton had 11.
Junior setter Britney Kerns led in the assist category totaling a career high 33 assist on the night. She now has over 400 assists in 82 games played for the year.
Defensively, it was junior Shannon Proctor and senior Aubrey Junker taking on the brunt of the C of O attack by earning 21 and 17 digs respectively. Newton also came up huge on the front row picking up eight blocks.
“This was a great game to get us ready for our last four conference games,” said head coach Robyn Daugherty. “We never stop believing. It was a great team win.”
JBU looks to play the first two of their final four conference games this upcoming weekend when they close out their home stretch against Wayland Baptist (Texas) on Friday at 7 p.m. and then turn around to face Lubbock Christian (Texas) on Saturday at 1 p.m. Currently, LCU (27-1, 9-0) and WBU (20-5, 7-2) hold the number one and two spot ahead of JBU at number three in the SAC standings.
