Netters Fall Short on the Road

Siloam Springs, Ark. (November 5, 2008) — The JBU women’s volleyball team dropped a conference match against Oklahoma City on Tuesday night falling 3-2 (22-25, 26-28, 25-19, 25-20, 13-15) to the Lady Stars.

OCU took the first two games, but the Lady Golden Eagles fought back to clinch games three and four to force a fifth.

OCU was about to close things out after taking the 14-10 advantage, but JBU rallied for three consecutive points to cut it to 14-13 before running out of steam at the end.

Individually, sophomore Amber Wilson led JBU with 14 kills and senior Laurae Marty picked up 13. Junior Britney Kerns and sophomore Alyssa Hanson earned 23 and 21 assists respectively.

Defensively, Shannon Proctor led the team with 25 digs to go along with seven aces, while junior Christi Newton picked up twelve blocks.

With the loss, the women drop to 19-9 overall and 9-3 in the SAC. The women look to close out the regular season on the road this Thursday when they head to Southern Nazarene to take on the Crimson Storm at 7 p.m.
