Siloam Springs, Ark. (November 11, 2008) - JBU men’s basketball team picked up another non-conference win on Tuesday night after cruising by Central Baptist (Ark.) 76-53.
Four JBU players reached double digits led by Davaughn Jackson with 13 points and 11 boards. Andrius Mikutis scored 12 points, and Abel Galliguez and Jarrett McGriff both had 10 points and four assists.
CBC (3-1) was led by Ryan Barnes with 25 points, while Rodderick Briggs put up 17.
The big difference in the game came in the rebound column as JBU out rebounded CBC 46-24.
JBU (4-0) also held CBC to 35% (16-46) from the floor while hitting 48% (30-62) of their shots.
Both teams struggled taking care of the ball committing 26 turnovers each.
Although his team picked up the win, head coach Clark Sheehy knows they’ll have cut down on the mistakes as the season progresses if they want to do well in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
“We’ve got to do a better job of maximizing the possession,” said Sheehy. “We want to play fast at times, but we have to learn to do that while still valuing the ball.”
JBU will have to chance to do just that on Saturday when they return to Murray Sells to face Dallas Christian at 5 p.m.
