Golden Eagles Fall to Rangers
Alva, Okla. (January 6, 2009) — After a tough game with seven lead changes and seven ties, the JBU Golden Eagles couldn’t pick up the road win falling 65-72 in Sooner Athletic Conference play to Northwestern Okla. State on Monday night in Alva, Okla.
Davaughn Jackson (Nassau, Bahamas) picked up his sixth double-double for the season with 15 points and 11 boards. Sophomore guard Andrius Mikutis (Silale, Lithuania) was the only other JBU player to score in double figures with 11 points before fouling out late in the second half.
Termaine Snyder led NWOSU (7-6, 2-3) with 19 points, six rebounds, three assists, and one blocked shot.
JBU (10-4, 3-3) fell behind 24-28 at the intermission and couldn’t overcome the gap after being outscored 44-41 in the second half.
As a team, JBU hit 22-of-60 from the floor for 36.7 percent including 9-of-24 (37.5%) from beyond the arc. JBU continued their domination of the boards winning 43-36 and also shot well from the charity stripe nailing 12-of-13 tries for 92.3 percent.
The Rangers went 24-for-61 (39.3%) from the floor and 10-for-29 (34.5%) from three land. They also managed two more makes from the free-throw line than JBU hitting 14-of-20 attempts for 70 percent.
