Men's basketball signs Oklahoma native

Siloam Springs, Ark. (April 3, 2009) — Sam Bartlett, a 6-6 post from Mannford, Okla., has signed a national letter of intent to play men’s basketball for JBU next winter. Bartlett transfers to JBU after averaging nine points and 5.5 rebounds per contest, while playing the past two seasons under head coach Brett Wieburg at Northern Oklahoma junior college in Tonkawa.

“Sam has been a pleasure to coach,” said Wieburg. “He’s a versatile player that is tough on the inside and can score from the outside. He’ll be a great representative of the program at JBU.”

JBU head coach Clark Sheehy added that he’s excited to add a person of Bartlett’s character and quality to the program.

“Sam comes to us from a great program at Northern, and we are excited to have him join our family,” said Sheehy. “We think his toughness and size will give us the inside presence we need immediately.”

Bartlett, who will be transferring in as a junior, plans to major in business.
