Oklahoma City (November 7, 2009) — The JBU men’s soccer team lost 2-0 to Oklahoma City during the first round of the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament on Friday afternoon. With the loss, the men conclude the year with an overall record of 10-8-1.

JBU came into the match down several starters due to injury, but fought hard nonetheless. In the first half, the Golden Eagles battled to a 0-0 tie at intermission after limiting OCU’s shots to seven for the period.

In the second half, OCU (14-3-2) netted the match’s first goal when Peiman Pahlevan scored off the assist by Preston Cox at the 52:50 mark.

JBU stepped up their offensive attack at this point and began firing shots but continued to come up empty.

In the 76th minute, the Stars widened the margin after Jason Gidney connected with Alex Gang for OCU’s second goal of the match and Gang’s 19th of the season.

JBU continued to play down the stretch but couldn’t eliminate the gap as time expired.

For the game, JBU was outshot 14-13 but took a 4-3 shots on goal advantage.
