Soccer team members earn post season honors

Head women

Head women's soccer coach Joe Thoma was named SAC Coach of the Year for the 2009 women's soccer season.

Siloam Springs, Ark. (November 16, 2009) — The JBU men’s and women’s soccer teams took home a plethora of post season honors for their work during the 2009 soccer season.

Topping the list is women’s soccer coach Joe Thoma, who earned the Sooner Athletic Conference Coach of the Year award after his squad took home the regular season title with a 9-1 conference record.

Earning First-Team honors on the women’s side are freshman goalkeeper Faith Thurman, junior forward Sarah Kidd, junior midfielder Camille Malkiewicz, and sophomore defender Emily Anderson.

Second-Team honors went to defenders, junior Ashley Cecil and sophomore Amanda Reed.

Cecil and junior forward Jodi Knack were also named to the SAC All-Tournament Team.

On the men’s side, three athletes brought home Second-Team honors including sophomore defender Joel Thomas, junior midfielder Gabriel Duarte, and junior forward Juan Iraola. Duarte was also named to the SAC All-Tournament Team.
