JBU Hosts Multicultural Visit Day for Area Students
Siloam Springs, Ark. (December 4, 2009) — John Brown University hosted a multicultural visit day to give some of the brightest underserved students in the area a vision to attending college. More than 150 students from Bentonville, Rogers, Rogers Heritage, Springdale, Springdale Harbor and Siloam Springs High Schools attend the event.
“The purpose of Multicultural Day is to expose high school students of diverse backgrounds to a university environment,” said Ron Johnson, director of the Walton International Scholars Program. “We want to highlight the importance of higher education and to present ideas that will challenge students to think about life after high school.”
JBU international students who are part of the Walton International Scholars Program planned and hosted the event. Visiting students attended workshops including “How to Pick a Major” and “How to Apply for College.” They will also were treated to a luncheon with JBU president Dr. Chip Pollard.
