Coon Named Human Resource Professional of The Year

Siloam Springs, Ark. (December 17, 2009) — Darrin Coon, business and human resource manager at John Brown University, was named Human Resource Professional of the Year by the Northwest Arkansas Human Resource Association (NOARK).The award recognizes an individual who has shown outstanding service and has promoted the profession of Human Resource Management.

During the award ceremony, representatives of NOARK noted Coon’s service on the association’s board and his establishment of a Northwest Arkansas version of HR Talk, an online magazine published in partnership with Biz2Biz that addresses human resource issues. Coon also has acted as a legislative liaison for human resource professionals, served as NOARK’s vice president and was recently sworn in as the association’s president for 2010.

“I was pleased yet surprised to receive the award because there are so many other deserving members,” Coon said. “I am thankful for how the university has supported me in my service to NOARK.”

NOARK comprises more than 300 HR professionals representing more than 155 organizations. The association holds monthly meetings for human resource professionals to network with business leaders, legal experts and others advancing the human resource profession.
