Ladies dismantle Mid America Christian
Siloam Springs, Ark. (January 7, 2010) — The JBU women’s basketball team posted an impressive 75-45 blowout against Mid-America Christian (Okla.) at home on Thursday night in Sooner Athletic Conference action. The win moves the ladies to 7-8 overall and 3-4 in SAC play.
Freshman Jessica Berlin posted 14 points after a 6 for 11 shooting performance. Junior Ashley Taylor tossed in 12 points and eight boards, and senior guard Micaela Cully chipped in with 11 after going a perfect 3-of-3 from long range.
MACU (8-6, 1-5) got nine from Julisa Mitchell.
After tying things up at the 19:05 mark in the first half, JBU quickly took the lead and never looked back.
The Lady Eagles held a 41-22 lead at halftime, and continued to dominate the Lady Evangels throughout the second stanza.
With 8:34 left in the game, junior Katie Mangels gave JBU their largest lead of the game at 65-34. Mangels finished with eight.
Mid-America continued to fight as time ticked away but couldn’t find an answer for JBU.
On the night, JBU shot 44 percent from the floor which included going 8-of-18 from downtown. MACU, meanwhile, struggled only canning 31 percent of their attempts.
The rebounding edge went to MACU 40-34, but JBU forced the Lady Evangels into forcing 30 turnovers while only committing 16.
JBU heads to the road on Saturday to face seventh ranked Oklahoma City. Game time is 3 p.m.
