Women lose at the buzzer
Siloam Springs, Ark. (January 21, 2010) — Courtney Brox’s three pointer as time expired helped Science and Arts of Okla. sneak by the JBU women’s basketball team 56-53 in Murray Sells at home on Thursday night.
Brox finished with five points for USAO (4-14, 2-8). Kristy Beaty led the Lady Drovers with 22 points and nine boards.
Ashley Taylor had 19 points and nine rebounds to lead JBU (7-12, 3-8).
JBU played from behind the entire game after getting down by as many as 11 at one point. However, the Lady Eagles fought their way back and tied things up at 53 a piece with 31 seconds left.
JBU then had a chance to take the lead with Micaela Cully on the line for two with eight seconds remaining in the game. Cully missed both free-throw attempts which allowed USAO to have their last second heroics.
JBU struggled on the night going 16-of-60 from the floor for 27 percent including 2-of-19 from downtown. USAO took advantage and knocked down 38 percent of their shots. The Lady Eagles won the rebounding battle 46-42.
JBU returns home on Saturday to face Southern Nazarene (Okla.) at 6 p.m.
