Siloam Springs, Ark. (February 6, 2010) — The JBU women’s basketball team returned to the win column on Saturday night after defeating Mid-America Christian (Okla.) 66-58 in Sooner Athletic Conference play.

The win snaps JBU’s eight game losing streak and moves the ladies to 8-16 overall and 4-12 in the SAC.

Three JBU players finished in double digits led by junior Emily Ortiz with 13 points and six rebounds. Ashley Taylor and Katie Mangels both added 12.

MACU (12-12, 5-11) got 15 points from Karina Trindade.

JBU controlled this game from the jump and never looked behind. After leading 31-26 at halftime, the Lady Eagles came out in the second period and increased their lead to as many as 11 points before securing the eight point win.

For the game, JBU knocked down 54% of their shots compared to 32% from MACU.

JBU returns to the road on Thursday when they travel to Shawnee, Okla. to face St. Gregory’s. Game time is 6 p.m.
