JBU Announces 2010-2011 Tuition, Fees, Room and Board Rate
Siloam Springs, Ark. (February 10, 2010) — The Board of Trustees and the President’s Cabinet at John Brown University recently approved the tuition and fees amount for the 2010-2011 traditional undergraduate academic year. The increase of 4.5 percent for tuition, fees, room and board matches last year’s rate of increase, the lowest in 20 years. The additional tuition covers unavoidable increases in operating costs, such as utility costs and service contracts, and compensation adjustments for JBU faculty and staff.
“We realize families are making a significant financial investment to send their student to JBU and the current economic recession may make that decision more difficult this year,” said Don Crandall, vice president for enrollment management. “Our commitment is to provide the best Christian university education for our students while also making sure education is as affordable as possible. With this in mind, we continue to take extra measures to control costs and to increase scholarship aid.”
JBU will increase the amount of money available for student scholarships by $230,000 next fall. In addition, JBU has succeeded in increasing its endowed scholarship funds for students by more than $16 million in the past three years. The increased endowment funds from this year alone will allow JBU to hand out nearly $125,000 more in endowed scholarships this fall. All together JBU will distribute at least $355,000 more in scholarships in 2010-2011 than last year. The costs for 2010-2011 tuition, fees, room and board break down as follows: Tuition-$18,844

Last year, tuition, fees, room and board increased by 4.50 percent. The total cost for the 2009-2010 academic year was $25,756. JBU is currently in the middle of the Keeping Faith: $110 Million Campaign, of which $30 million will be dedicated in scholarship endowments and $20 million for annual funded scholarships.
