Siloam Springs, Ark. (February 18, 2010) — Junior Andrius Mikutis exploded off the bench with 22 points to lead JBU past Lubbock Christian (Texas) on Thursday night in Murray Sells.

Mikutis added five rebounds to go along with his point production. Adrian Miller chipped in with 18 points, five rebounds, and four assists, and Davaughn Jackson and Abel Galliguez added 11 each.

For LCU (13-12, 8-11), Kenny Hewitt finished with 18 points and five rebounds.

The Golden Eagles led 20-11 midway through the first half but allowed their lead to evaporate and went into the break only ahead by four, 36-32.

In the second half, JBU picked up their defensive pressure and started to pull away. With 8:49 remaining Jackson gave JBU the 56-41 lead after scoring on the inside. But LCU responded with a 7-0 run capped off by a jam from Benoit Bekono with 7:35 left to make it 56-48. The Golden Eagles heated back up and extended their lead down the stretch before securing the 16 point victory.

JBU shot 60% for the game while holding LCU to 40.4%. JBU also dominated the glass 32-20.

Now 19-8 overall and 11-8 in Sooner Athletic Conference play, JBU has secured their spot in the SAC tournament in early March. JBU looks to exact revenge on Wayland Baptist on Saturday in Murray Sells as the tournament seeding is still undecided. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
