Bethany, Okla. (March 4, 2010) - The JBU men’s basketball team advances to the semi-finals of the SAC Tournament on Friday night after crushing the four seed Oklahoma Christian 67-44 on Thursday in the Sawyer Center on the campus of Southern Nazarene (Okla.).
Sophomore Adrian Miller led all scorers with 14 points, while freshman EJ McWoods and senior Davaughn Jackson finished with 11 and 10 points respectively.
Jeff Crocker tossed in 10 points for Oklahoma Christian (22-9).
JBU (22-9) held a 37-22 halftime lead after shooting 48 percent in the first period, but OC managed to make it an eight point game after opening the second half on a 6-1 run. The Golden Eagles regrouped and buckled down on defense to hold the Eagles to fourteen points over the final 15 minutes of play to take the 23 point win.
For the game, JBU shot 45.5 % from the floor while holding OC to 33%. JBU won the rebounding battle 38-34 and forced 11 turnovers while committing only nine.
JBU will take on the eighth seed Lubbock Christian on Friday night at 6 p.m. Lubbock Christian knocked off the No. 1 seed Oklahoma Baptist 67-64 in the first major upset of the conference tournament.
