Men face Bearcats in round one of national tourney
Siloam Springs, Ark. (March 11, 2010) — The John Brown University men's basketball team will face McKendree (Ill.) during the first round of the Buffalo Funds NAIA National Tournament to be held in Kansas City, Mo. March 17-23. The game time is scheduled for Wednesday, March 17, at 2:15 p.m.
The Golden Eagles received an automatic berth to the tournament after defeating Rogers State (Okla.) 73-58 in the SAC Tournament Championship last week. With an overall record of 24-9, John Brown is making their fifth appearance in the national tournament, which includes winning the NAIA title in 2005.
The Bearcats earned the No. 8 seed after receiving an automatic bid by winning the American Midwest Conference Tournament. This will be McKendree’s 14th trip to the national tournament, and the fourth consecutive appearance. The Bearcats reached the national semifinals in 2003 and have earned a berth in the national quarterfinals on two occasions – in 1997 and again last season. They enter this year's tournament at 27-6.
